Flights booked!

It’s official! Our flights our booked to leave Edmonton on January 15, 2013 and make our way to our new home in Burundi, Africa! We have been talking about this and planning for years and now it’s only 10 weeks away…it feels so surreal! We have been so blessed to be able to take time to spend with family and friends and are working to wrap things up over this next little while. We thank you so much for all of your prayers! With little time left before we go, we are still needing to raise a substantial amount of money. We need to raise money for solar panels for the clinic, a community garden for the orphanage, money to be able to sent over a container of medical supplies, money to finish the guesthouse, and costs for the clinic, etc. Please think about those in Burundi who desperately need your help. We would love for you to come along side us, not only in prayer, but as a financial support in order to better the lives of the Burundian people. It is such a cool thing to be a part of! If you feel led to support our efforts in Burundi in a financial manner, please click on the “donate” button on the home page of our blog. Tax receipts will be provided. If you have any questions or would like to speak with us, please feel free to contact us. We would love to meet with you as well! I posted the last bunch of our photos to share from our trip to Burundi this past summer (if you are reading this from e-mail, you will be able to see all of the photos if you go to the original blog site). Enjoy!

Nadine & Josh Guenther

When Josh was very sick and stuck in his room for a week, I brought him a baby goat from the field to cheer him up…it worked!

A view of the Congo!

A tiny gecko!

Josh’s dad, Craig, showing some doctors how to fix their anesthetic machine

We became good friends…

…I don’t think they did…

Helping design the guesthouse being built as our home

A first peek at the clinic…

Yes…he is carrying about 40 mattresses on his head…and he is jogging.

The most recent state of our new home! We will be able to house about nine or so volunteers at a time, in addition to the two of us! Haha, who wants to come visit?

  1. Greetings from Hereford England to you Josh and Nadine.

Lovely to see your collection of pictures from you recent time in Gitega and a lovely reminder for me too when I was there in August at the same time as you.Great to see the baby goat in the pictures. After you left I struggled with the shepherd to keep the baby with its mother {which he did on one occassion] but seemed not the thing to do and I was losing the battle. ..somewhat heart wrenching to see and hear it bleating for its mother.
It is remarkable to see the development in the guest house /your future home.Who sent you the picture?
I have very special memories of my time in the orphanage and Academy and the friends that I made.I have communicated with dear Peggy, Marie Joosie and Rachal. It would be good to have news of developments at the Academy since it opened.Do you have any information about the Opening celebration.
God bless you both in you preparations for take off to Bujumbura. I look forward to following you journey.
    Every blessing in Jesus
